1. The St Andrews Weekend Getaway
Spend three days immersed in the “Home of Golf.” Tee up at the iconic Old Course (advance booking required), try the New Course, and squeeze in a round at Kingsbarns. Walk the historic streets of St Andrews, explore its medieval ruins, and soak up the university-town charm. Ideal for golfers short on time but eager for a legendary experience.
2. East Lothian Links Trail
This region, often called Scotland’s Golf Coast, is home to classics like North Berwick and Gullane. Choose a five-day itinerary that combines world-class links with scenic coastal walks. Don’t miss Muirfield if you can secure a tee time. Treat yourself to fresh seafood in local harbours and visit the charming seaside towns along the coast.
3. Highlands & Castle Experience
For a taste of Scotland’s dramatic landscapes, plan a one-week itinerary in the Highlands. Test your skills at Royal Dornoch, and then head west for hidden gems like Brora. Off the course, stay in a historic castle hotel, sample local whiskies, and enjoy breathtaking views of lochs and rolling hills—perfect for those who crave both golf and grandeur.
4. The Open Championship Tour Relive golf’s grandest stages by playing courses that have hosted The Open. Target St Andrews Old Course, Carnoustie, Muirfield, Royal Troon, Prestwick and Turnberry over a two-week journey. Each stop is steeped in history, offering the chance to stand where the game’s greats have battled for the Claret Jug. A bucket-list itinerary for die-hard fans seeking the ultimate bragging rights.
5. West Coast Wonders
Base yourself near Troon or Prestwick for a four-day excursion. Play the iconic Royal Troon (famed for its ‘Postage Stamp’ hole) and then head south to explore the rugged beauty of Western Gailes. Off the links, visit local distilleries or enjoy a sunset beach stroll. Ideal for couples looking for a golf-centric getaway with a dash of romance.
6. Scotland & Ireland Combo
Why limit yourself to just one country? Combine Scotland’s legendary east coast—think St Andrews and Carnoustie—with Ireland’s coastal gems like Portmarnock, Royal County Down, or the breathtaking Old Head Golf Links. This two-week itinerary blends two rich golfing cultures into one unforgettable trip. With quick flights or scenic ferry crossings, hopping between these historic golfing destinations is easier than you’d expect. Ideal for golfers seeking variety, prestige, and a truly expansive links experience across both sides of the Irish Sea.
7. Family-Friendly Golf & Sightseeing
Include shorter courses or par-3 layouts for younger or novice players. Blend tee times with visits to Edinburgh Castle, the National Museum of Scotland, or local wildlife parks. This itinerary can span seven to ten days, making it accessible for families that want to enjoy scenic drives, cultural landmarks, and a taste of the game without overcommitting.
8. Low-Handicap Challenge
If your group thrives on tough courses, focus on Scotland’s most challenging links—Carnoustie, Royal Dornoch, and Castle Stuart are must-plays. Tack on a few lesser-known tracks like Cruden Bay for variety. This itinerary, ideally one to two weeks, tests your skills in diverse conditions, from narrow fairways to blustery coastal winds, offering a genuine test for serious competitors.
9. Luxury & Leisure
Pamper yourself with upscale resorts like Gleneagles, Trump Turnberry, or the Old Course Hotel. Spend mornings on the fairways and afternoons indulging in spa treatments or fine dining. Ideal for a special occasion—like a honeymoon or anniversary—this itinerary spans a week of pure indulgence, perfectly balanced between challenging golf and five-star relaxation.
10. Short-Break Hidden Gems
For those who’ve already ticked off Scotland’s bucket-list courses, explore underrated jewels like Machrihanish on the Kintyre Peninsula or Fraserburgh in Aberdeenshire. A four-day itinerary is enough to savour off-the-beaten-path clubs, typically less crowded yet equally scenic. Consider renting a car or hiring a local driver for an easy hop between these hidden treasures.
11. Golf & Whisky Trail
Combine two of Scotland’s greatest passions: golf and whisky. Tee up at Speyside or Highlands courses during the day, then tour renowned distilleries like Glenfiddich or Dalwhinnie by evening. A one-week Golf & Whisky Trail offers a memorable, multi-sensory dive into Scotland’s heritage. Perfect for those who enjoy a good dram after a challenging round.
12. The All-Encompassing Grand Tour
If you have the luxury of time, embark on a three-week whirlwind of Scotland’s top courses—St Andrews, Carnoustie, Muirfield, Royal Troon, Turnberry, and many others—mixing in cultural highlights, fine dining, and scenic drives. Partner with a specialist like ProScot Golf to handle the logistics, ensuring your epic adventure runs smoothly from start to finish.

Excellent
Short answer: Stop looking, and hire ProScot. They're the best.
Longer answer: We recommend ProScot to everyone planning a UK/Ireland golf trip. We had three golf days over four nights in St Andrews. ProScot reserved a perfect short-term rental (all the amenities, perfect location, surprisingly low price), and secured tee times at the St Andrews Old, New, and Castle courses.
Nicola waited at Edinburgh airport for our delayed arriving flight, and drove us to St Andrews in ProScot's luxury van, with water and snacks. And even though our apartment was about a 9-iron from the First Tee, Nicola picked us up each day, took us to the practice facility and first tee box, and primed us with water and snack bars.
On the day we miscalculated the proper caddy gratuity and realized, on the first tee, that we were short on currency, Nicola raced to an ATM and sorted us out -- no questions, no fuss. Just fixing whatever needs fixing, with grace, and no stress.
When we played the Castle Course, our driver -- John -- regaled us with stories that only PGA Professionals possess, then gave us a couple incredibly useful tips at the practice facility.
After the trip we thought we had missed, or owed, an additional payment to ProScot. Nope. We had paid in full what they charged. Best value ever.
What a perfect vacation with 5 beautiful days of golf. Nicola was great. She ensured we were in the Old Course balloting-system and that we were also checked in for the Old Course singles daily lottery. I was fortunate to secure two opportunities to play the Old Course. Nicola went out her way many times, including traveling back to pick me up from another course to ensure I made my Old Course check in time. She also meet up with me on the 18th tee to follow me in while taking pictures of a very memorable experience. ProScotGolf provides exceptional customer service and value. I will be planning my next trip soon.
